Person crossing Wokingham Road by Earley Rail Station
Petition for a pedestrian crossing by Earley Rail Station on Wokingham Road
We call on Wokingham Borough Council to install a pedestrian crossing on Wokingham Road by Earley rail station.

This junction is one of the busiest pedestrian crossings on the Wokingham Road. At present, it is unsafe for the hundreds of people who cross it every day.

It is used by pedestrians to reach Earley rail station, contributing a large portion of the over 1,000 passengers who enter and exit the station every day. It is also a major crossing between Woodley and Earley, and is used by children to reach Maiden Erlegh School and Bulmershe school.

The current traffic islands are not an adequate solution, because they do not slow down or stop the fast-moving traffic.

A pedestrian crossing will save lives, while also encouraging drivers to keep within the speed limit. We ask the Council to install a crossing at an appropriate place for pedestrians and for the traffic flow.
